Breaking the Myths: The Reality of Living with ADHD and Autism

ADHD and autism are surrounded by harmful myths — from “you just need to try harder” to “it’s just social awkwardness.” The reality is far more complex, involving executive dysfunction, sensory overload, relationship differences, financial routines, and co-occurring conditions like binge eating disorder. Differences in communication and reassurance needs in relationships can also cause significant stress and distrust, affecting a partner’s ability to focus on work. These aren’t excuses, but daily struggles. Greater awareness can replace stigma with understanding.
