Every December, something stirs deep within the Onyx Dragon’s hoard. The air sharpens with frost, lanterns burn a little brighter, and the dragon, never quite jolly, becomes oddly festive. Not cheerful. Not merry. Just quietly willing to share a few treasures.
This is the season of stories, of chaos, and of gifts that matter. Some gifts are easy: socks, chocolate, or the obligatory scented candle. Others are for the unusual souls, the chaotic neutral friend who collects shinies, the player who loves cards that double as oracle decks, the curious sceptic who secretly adores anything mystical. In the workshop, the elves of imagination, tiny Emberlings, frost sprites, and dragonlings, scurry about. Some are helpful. Some are slightly destructive. Glitter often gets deployed with military precision. Cards are shuffled not just for games, but for deciding which gift bundles feel truly fated. Occasionally the Hearthfire Dragon appears, warming the room, guarding creativity, and reminding everyone that even the coldest season can inspire something magical.
This season is not just about presents. It is about the quiet magic of December: a cup of something warm, a moment of reflection, a story shared with someone who understands. It is about letting the cards choose, allowing a little festive chaos, and appreciating gifts that carry meaning, gifts that become memories rather than clutter.
The Onyx Dragon also has advice for surviving holiday chaos: hoard snacks, wrap yourself in a blanket, pretend you cannot hear anyone calling your name, and if all else fails, hide in the wrapping paper pile. Trust us, it works 94 per cent of the time.
Then there is the Winter Solstice, a pause between the darkest night and the return of light. Across many worlds, lanterns guide lost travellers or invite inspiration. Here in our hoard, we light lanterns for new stories, creative sparks, and adventures yet to come. Each lantern is a promise that the coming year will hold mystery, wonder, and perhaps a little mischief.
